My first encounter with summarising new year resolutions in “My 3 Words” was in 2012 after reading Chris Brogan’s Blog. My 3 words that year were “Unlearn * Learn * Adopt” which I explained in details in a post titled  – New Year Resolutions in Style: Just 3 Words for 2012.

In 2013 and 2014, sadly I did not summarise them in this fashion. 2013 saw me take a step back to evaluate on whether I was on the right path in business and saw me do more ghost writing jobs than inbound marketing assignments. Having given up my office space, I mostly worked from home and by the end of that year I was convinced that there was no better time to venture boldly in to inbound marketing.

2014 was both for our firm – Allen Cole Consultants and for me. It’s a year that saw us scale new heights and even though there were a few cloudy days, they did not dampen our spirits and efforts to make it our best year yet. In the same year, and thanks to several blog post in this space, I got invited as a guest speaker in two youth forums to speak on Social Media and New Opportunities for the Youth. These invites became “huh” moments for me.

Back to the present. Given this background, I have identified My 3 words for 2015;

Steady – In 2014, I discovered it is very easy to get carried away by exciting assignments, especially for those of us who tend to be spontaneous, or spur of the moment people. Then it wears off and you have to get back to those other tasks, finding your rhyme takes a bit longer than ought to.

So in 2015, I have this list of projects that need to either finally take off or are on going that I need to ACT on more decisively sticking to timelines to increase ROI and scale down on spontaneity.  And even learn to turn down “good deals.”

Self – Time is one resource I need to invest wisely. I have neglected spending time on self-development. As the projects the firm undertook increase I spent more time on getting things done and very little on learning. This year, I intend to set aside sometime daily to nourish myself both spiritually and professionally.

Community – This is a very important aspect of my existence. both my work life and family life resolves around building good relations with those around. Towards the end of last year, I started a weekly meet-up with like-minded people, with who we meet in my office, share ideas and challenge each other to implement.

This year, I intend to take this a notch higher by inviting more people to the group and also invite guest speakers to share on areas of interest. Also in the pipeline is a book club project.
