2012 is here and like the beginning of every other year, am busy compelling a list of new year resolutions I hope to see through. The difference between this years resolutions and the previous years is that this year I have the help, and you can blame it all on Chris Brogan.

Let me take you back a bit, December last year, I finally decided to join a newsletter listing on Chris’ blog. One of the newsletters I received sometime later that month, was all about getting three words which I could use as resolutions for the new year. Initially I thought how easy, just three words and set on a journey of finding these magic 3 words that would sum up all I want to do, achieve, conquer, avenge, overcome, accomplish, streamline, change, acquire etc. Both in my personal front and business also.

As you can imagine summarizing this list of wanna’s plus others still swimming in my head was no easy task. Now the advantage of hanging out with the likes of Chris is you get to meet other like minded such as Jacquline whose post has helped me further narrow down to my final list and structure it in to a month to month to do list.

So my 3 Words for 2012 are: –

Unlearn *  Learn  *  Adopt

The best thing about my 3 words for 2012, is that they flow in to each other, where one ends the other kinda begins, so am actually looking forward to seeing how they will shape my year.

Unlearn: Refers to cleaning house (seen that reality show of “how clean is your house?”) yeah something like that, getting rid of the bad practices and habits I have picked over the years.

It might be something as simple as unlearning eating patterns or habits or complex issues such as financial management but all in all, I am ready to unlearn.

Learn: As I clean house, there will learning to be done. No new habit can start without actual starting out somewhere, and this will be my starting point. It was in 2011 that I started blogging and entered into this whole new world, where there is always something new or something  learn every day. So I am immersing myself into this world with an open mind ready to just learn.

Adopt: The beauty about adopting, is that it does not happen over night, but comes with practice. It is one thing to learn and another to keep at it. Adopting will help me internalize by constantly utilizing my newly acquired knowledge. Which for the longest time has been my undoing due to this monster known as procrastination.

Well now that am armed with my three words and the 12in12 lists, I must say am well on my way to a good start. And every so often I will check in and post an update on my progress.

So with my 3 words for 2012 tucked under the arm, 2012 here I come.
