I started this year on a high note by signing on new clients. For every business person a new contract means more money will be coming your way, good news isn’t it, or so I thought. I went on to outline new year resolutions on how the rest of the year would shape up around this positive event. But has it all taken shape,eeehhh….. stick with me to find out.
This morning it dawned on me that the year is almost half way gone. So I took time to review my performance so far, looked at my new year resolutions and frankly the result was not anything to write home about.
To make matters worse, all the positivity and enthusiasm I had started the year with had been slowly replaced by either disappointment or failure. And like any normal human being I had a seemingly perfect explanation for it, most of which every one else or a situation was to blame for.
As I looked for some literature to uplift my spirit I came across this audio book in my library and it shocked me in to evaluating my thought process, read on for more…..
You are a Manifestation of Your Thoughts
The title of this post “your life today is a reflection of your past thoughts” dawned on me as I listened to an audio book a friend “Hi friend”, shared with me early this year but like many other things I put off listening to it. This morning I literally stumbled upon “The Secret by Rhonda Byrne” and after listening to it for 30 minutes this post was born.
Stay with me on this, for me to internalize what I read or listen to, I have to write and what a better medium than this blog.
How often do you take for granted those thoughts that seem to flash through your mind? Did you they contribute to either your success or failure. Apparently your mind never rests till your fall asleep, whether you are aware of it or not. Whether you watching TV, reading a book, contemplating of your past or your future. Most of your thoughts are birthed in the sub conscious mind and are manifested into things in your life.
Law of Attraction
Ever heard of the law of attraction, it is one of the most powerful laws of nature. It forms your entire life experience through your thoughts. So you call to your life prosperity, debt, failure, wealth etc.
How you do this may ask? What are your predominant thoughts, those who think abundance and do not allow any other contradictory thoughts to enter their mind, hence these thoughts manifest themselves into things, in this case abundance.
“Like attracts like” think of a situation where you had an unhappy thought and the more you dwell on it, the unhappy you feel. This is because the law of attraction is obeying your thoughts and attracts to you more unhappy thoughts.
According to Rhonda, most of us spend most of our time thinking about what we do not want. Apparently the law of attraction does not compute negation, but instead obeys nature and just brings to you the thoughts you send out.
You become what you mostly think about.
How Your Mind is Wired
What I found interesting as I continued to listen to this audio book, is how our minds are wired. Negation is not part of the wiring process and hence every time you think :–
“I will not eat cake” your mind hears “I will eat cake”
“I have too much work” is translated to “I want more work”
“I do not want to late” – “I want to be late”
“I do not argue” – “I want to get into arguments”
When you surround yourself with people who are always complaining and sympathizing with them, then you too are inviting the same negativity into your thought process hence you will inherit the same trait – complaining. The law of attraction presents situations for you to complain about, thus obeying your thought process.
Your thoughts are seeds – what your sow is what you reap.
Haiya back to audio…. stick around for more on the Secret.
