I have been spotting a bald head for a while now and one of the questions I have had to contend with has been “WHY?” From my friends and total strangers in a mat or a shop, who just want to understand what makes a woman shave all her hair. Yet hair is supposedly the “epitome” of beauty in a woman, or is it?
I beg to differ; my hair or lack of it should not define me as a woman, nor should what I wear, drive, and my body size and shape be used to pass judgment on whether I am a real woman or not, whether I am a failure in life or not etc.
So now I ask you, what defines you both as an individual and as a brand? There are those who are defined by where they live and what they drive. And no matter how bad things are they will wallow in debt just to sustain a certain lifestyle.
Others are defined by their relatives, spouses or the success of their extended family. These ones will be quick to drop the family name at every available opportunity. Ever met anyone like that? They are the most boring conservationists ever. Majority of us though are defined by where they work and who they associate with and that is why after graduation we all head for the big “named” corporates and should one of us end up in the jua kali sector, he/she is written off as a failure. But is this the reality on the ground?
If you are defined by material things, what happens when it all comes to an end? Shouldn’t you be defined by your actions and your character?
What Defines You as a Brand?
What about your brand, what defines it? This is not for only for products and services but also individuals. Whether you are aware of it or not, you are a brand, and unfortunately in most times, you only have one opportunity to impress a buyer by your presentation.
Have you ever gone for a job interview one you were so sure you had met all the requirements and were the best candidate for the job, and still did not get the job? It is all about how you sell yourself as a brand. Am sure you have heard “first impression count,” this is especially true online.
A visitor to your website has only a few seconds to look at your site and either like it or dismiss it. That is why it is known as browsing. So what do you want your visitors to see when they land on your website? Brand your website to look as professional as the services you offer. Be the solution they are looking for and this will continually attract new visitors and retain the old ones.

Thanks for this great post pauline–indeed how one’s website is presented determines the traffic they will get
What defines me is what drives me.I can’t really pinpoint to you what it is unless i doubt it.Nevertheless it is not anything material .It lies inside me.However, a keen eye can detect it after careful observation and interaction.Thank you.
